While Berocca is a well-known hangover helper in many countries around the world, in the US, it is still relatively new and unknown. How do you know that Berocca works any better than any of the countless OTC hangover cures available or home remedies passed down from generation to generation?

What is it?
Berocca is a tablet that dissolves in water creating a bubbly, effervescent, 8-12 ounce drink. If you’re familiar with Alka-Seltzer, that is what Berocca will most remind you of. In fact, Berroca is like a cross between that and Emergen-C, but far more effective according to most users. While Berroca has mainly been marketed as a concoction that raises physical energy and mental awareness, it is a pretty effective hangover helper as well.

What is in it?
According to Berocca’s website, the formula is as follows:
• B vitamins: various B vitamins support physical energy by helping to convert food to energy
• Guarana and caffeine: natural guarana extract and caffeine support mental sharpness
• Vitamin C: This vitamin is also an antioxidant that helps support immune health
• Zinc: an antioxidant that helps support immune health
• Berocca is also a good source of magnesium

Who makes it?
Berroca is currently made and marketed by Bayer, who acquired it in 2005; however the Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche developed it in the 1960’s. While Berroca remained a bit niche when owned by Roche, Bayer has marketed it as far and wide as possible, which is how Berroca found its way to the US. Under Bayer, Berroca sales have soared internationally.

Where else has it been?
Berroca is sold in over seventy countries. In Australia, it’s considered a Saturday morning tradition since the 1980’s. Whether you set your feet down in France, England, South Africa or even Korea, you will find Berroca and plenty of people who praise it as their go-to hangover helper. Berroca has become so trusted, that it is widely regarded as “The World’s Hangover Cure.”

Where can I get it?
Berroca can be purchased online through a number of different venues. Offline, outlets like Target, Walmart, Walgreens and CVS all carry Berroca. For a more comprehensive list, visit this page. http://www.buyberocca.com/en/where-to-buy/

Does it work?
What you really want to know is “Does it work?” The answer isn’t quite so simple. Berroca is not widely marketed as a hangover cure because it is not one. With that said, Berroca does effectively address some of the symptoms associated to the common hangover providing some relief. The best thing to treat a hangover is good old fashioned water. Adding Berroca to that may help you rehydrate!
